Beach Clean Up with Saltwater Cleanups WA

Beach Clean Up with Saltwater Cleanups WA

On 27 March 2022, four member of RotaryEQ joined the Rotary Impact Network and over 40 other volunteers to help remove 94 kilograms of rubbish from South Trigg beach, at an event organised by Saltwater Cleanups WA.

After just an hour of collecting, 38 full bags of rubbish were removed off the beach together containing 94kgs of rubbish. Of this debris 55.9kgs was recyclable and 38.1kgs was non-recyclable.

The recyclables included:

  • 205 glass bottles

  • 164 aluminium cans

  • 70 plastic bottles

  • 64 cardboard pieces

South Trigg beach at first glance actually looks relatively clean. It’s when you look closely however, that you begin to notice how dirty the beach really is. Just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it’s not there.

Total weight of rubbish removed from West Australian beaches so far by the Saltwater Cleanups WA events totals 461.3kgs.

NEXT CLEANUP is on Sunday 24 April 9am-10:30am at Coogee Beach WA. They will be meeting on the grass behind Coogee Beach Cafe (4 Powell Rd, Coogee WA 6166).
